My ideas for my Final Images
Our collaboration was set up due to us both wanting to give people a better understanding of mental health or to show mental health in a creative way.
After researching mental health, I realised that if you suffer with a mental illness, it is an invisible illness so I want to make an invisible illness visible.
I want to do this by creating a series of portraits and incorporating movement and facial expression to show emotion and feelings. This will show how the person suffering feels on the inside, it will show what you you can't see on the outside.
By making an invisible illness visible I hope that this will raise more awareness of the negative side of mental health and how it effects people as there is a stigma around mental health that needs to go.
I am hoping people will gain a better understanding and knowledge of mental health so that they can see my images and afterwards leave with a new opinion of mental health and tell others about it to help raise awareness.
I want to show feelings of sadness, anger, stress, worry within my images as I am going to focus on capturing the feelings that come along with Depression and Anxiety, two of the most common mental illnesses.
I want all of my images to be in black and white and to resemble photos taken with film. I was planning on taking them with film but with the amount of time I had and the slow shutter speeds I wanted to use, I will take them digitally and then edit them post production to resemble film imagery by creating a high contrast, grainy feel in black and white.
