Collaboration

I have chosen to collaborate with a class member to exhibit our work together. This will be the first time I have collaborated with another photographer. Although we are working independently, both of our work is based around the theme of mental health.

We had both wanted to produce work around this theme for a while but hadn't been given the chance to do what we wanted until now so we took the opportunity straight away. We discussed our ideas to each other, both completely different but still fitting in the same category.

Our work will be displayed next to each other and shall contrast one another to make for a more interesting exhibit. Both of our pieces are being created to show effects of mental health in some way or another and we are doing this to try and create less of a stigma around mental health.

Our target audience is everyone but mostly younger people between 13-18 as we feel the younger generation need educating about mental health as they will grow up with the knowledge and pass it on and if they suffer from a mental illness they may be more likely to speak out and get help.

We are trying to show effects of mental health. How it can effect someone. Mental illness is often ignored and people who suffer usually hide their feelings so people don't understand how they feel. We hope to show how they feel in these images.

Pros of collaborating:

-  Constructive criticism
- Support throughout work
- Get things done twice as fast
- Idea sharing
- Less time consuming
- Learn techniques from each other
- Motivation
- Share success
- Fuel each others imagination
- Creative growth
- Networking
- Model for each other
- Share equipment

Cons of collaborating:

- Comparing work
- Lack of cooperation
- Idea stealing

To collaborate successfully we must put in an equal amount of effort and help each other out. We must also make sure we keep each other up to date with work progress.
